For many years, people thought that drinking too much of coffee is a health hazard and we don’t have too much of coffee tolerance. But a new study confirms that your body can handle more coffee than you ever knew. Based on the research, it is confirmed that the benefits of coffee far outweigh many of the perceived negatives associated with it. In short, coffee is a super food!
A quick peek into the article:
According to new research, over a 10-year period, drinking more than 8 cups a day does not affect your health and is linked to a lower risk of death. In the study which was published in July, 2 2019 in the JAMA Internal Medicine, researchers followed nearly 500,000 people who were asked about how many cups of coffee they drank daily. All the participants were also asked about their general health, education, and smoking and drinking habits.
In a 10-year follow-up period, around 14,000 people who participated in the study died. The main reason for their death was cancer, cardiovascular disease and respiratory diseases. Researchers found that people who drank more cups of coffee, were less likely to die during the study period. The thing to notice here is that while people drank different types of coffee and results were slightly different, the results generally held true for instant, and ground.
Researchers also looked at participants’ genetic data. They recognized four gene variations that were known to be linked with caffeine metabolism, and identified how the body breaks down caffeine.
Along with its pleasurable taste and attractive aroma, drinking coffee, nature’s tasty natural food, has many benefits:
This news is good for those who were always afraid of drinking too much coffee.
Just enough coffee or too much?
Researchers found that healthy adults can easily drink four eight-ounce cups of coffee per day. About 0.014 ounces of caffeine per day in healthy adults is not linked with poor cardiovascular effects, behavioral changes, reproductive and developmental effects, or acute effects. This study suggests that even higher amounts of coffee could be beneficial – but that does not mean that people should increase their coffee intake past what they are comfortable with.
People also need to be reminded that:
Coffee intake helps to burn more calories. In the study, it was found that people who drank about 12 ounces of coffee before working out burned nearly about 16% more calories as compared to the people who did not. Also, it was noticed that even people who do not work out can boost their metabolism by 10 to 20% by drinking coffee.
One 5-oz cup of coffee can improve your blood circulation by 30% according to a Japanese study.
People who drink as many as four eight-ounce cups per day can easily lower depression risk by 20%. The reason behind this is that coffee also has an impact on the production of brain chemicals like serotonin and dopamine.
Gout is a condition which is caused when uric acid increases in the blood. If you drink four to five cups of coffee a day, then you can lower the gout risk by 40%.
